I Know That You Are Home

I know that you are home
when I hear you from
beyond the staircase and
you break my concentration with
the open heart of song;

and I listen like a man
who has spoken all his life

but never heard before.

This reminds me of Leonard Cohen for some reason...It may be the "open heart of song", that would sound like him.

It's very beautiful.

I agree with Charles, it is quite beautiful.

Well done.

that was beautiful, and slightly heartbreaking...

Love the last three lines, it's such a gorgeous simile. Wonderful short poem, feels very complete in and of itself.

Haha, I was just thinking of how this reminded me of Cohen's "Poem" when I saw Charles' comment!

This is a very simple but beautiful piece. I agree with Marta, the last three lines are so full and rich. And the way you break up the lines works wonderfully as well.

Bernard, you are such an old soul :)
