I know these useless words won't...

We shake our heads,
apathetic
mockingly sympathetic.
We don't have anything to give
but sorrow and regrets,
useless words
that don't put food on tables
or heal open wounds.
We have nothing to give but our thoughts,
but our thoughts aren't with you for long,
and they won't keep you warm.
We might be shamed into throwing some change
at the closest homeless street dweller,
but we won't do anything to find him a home.
We have nothing to give,
not even time, since
time is money and both are scarce;
and what it comes down to is
we have nothing to give
when we have nothing to gain.

I really like these lines, they're my favourite. But I feel like they're stalled a bit by the way it's edited. Maybe that's how you intended it to be, purposely jagged?

Good job, tis sad. Everything is sad. Life is sad this week.

I agree very much with tabs. I think one of the things you can work on has to do with the jagged way the lines read sometimes. It seems like you use words strictly for their meaning, without working with their sonority and length.
