Montréal -40c

they set off in the night

north-bound, to higher ground

treading the ice-laced, crunching streets

the lonely lit windows of skyscrapers

suspended above them

and the long beams of revolving light

from the roof of Place Ville Marie

searching the steam over the city

they tried to make it to more hospitable hills

god, it was cold

I loved the spacing. It reminded me of how slow I have to walk in snow...like last night.

Hate how you aren't here, but write a piece about Montreal being cold and snowed in :P and that happened last night.

This is SUCH a beautiful description of Montreal, Charles! Spot on. I loved "the long beams of revolving light/from the roof of Place Ville Marie/searching the steam over the city" - I've always thought that light gave Montreal such an ethereal quality and you put it perfectly.

How much longer before you retuurn? :D

Also, please say this is a Malajube reference lol!
